Paint a mask over a bike on a sunny street and most erasers take the bike and leave its shadow on the road, cast by nothing. Bria Eraser takes the shadow with it, and you mask only the bike. A reflection in water leaves the same way.
Sometimes you need the opposite. Retouching 4K catalog photos, everything outside the mask has to stay exactly as it was. So the same mask works in two modes, picked with one parameter, composite.

Top row, context aware (composite: false): only the cup is masked, and its shadow goes with it. Bottom row, pixel perfect (composite: true): two stray clips come out of a 4K catalog shot, and everything else stays as it was.
composite | Mode | What changes |
|---|---|---|
false (default) | Context aware | The object, plus the shadow or reflection it casts outside the mask |
true | Pixel perfect | Only the masked area; everything outside the mask stays as it was, at full resolution |
