Check whether an image, video, or audio file was created using fal.

Every piece of media generated through fal's hosted applications is signed with Content Credentials (C2PA) — an open, industry-standard cryptographic signature — and embedded with an invisible watermark. This tool lets anyone confirm whether fal generated a given file. No account or login required.

Verify a file

Uploaded files are accessible by link on fal's public CDN for up to one hour, then deleted.

Select the original file from your device, or provide a direct URL. Accepted file types: jpg, jpeg, png, webp, gif, avif.

How to use it

  1. 1.Upload your file — Select a file from your device, or paste a direct URL to the image or video.
  2. 2.We check the signature — We verify the file's Content Credentials and confirm whether fal was the signer. We also check for the presence of fal's watermark.
  3. 3.Get your result — You'll see whether the file carries a valid fal signature and, if so, when it was generated.

Understanding your result

Verified — signed by fal: The file carries valid Content Credentials signed by fal. It was generated through a fal-hosted application.

Not verified: The file does not carry a valid fal signature. This does not prove the file wasn't AI-generated, or even that it wasn't made with fal — metadata may have been removed by a third party via editing, re-saving, compression, or other modifications. If a fal signature doesn't exist, it's also possible a different third party signature may exist.

Limitations

  • •fal-hosted apps only. This tool verifies media generated through fal's hosted applications. Content generated via other providers — or via fal in configurations that don't apply signing — cannot be verified here.
  • •Real-time and streamed content is not covered. Live/streamed generation is not currently signed at generation time.
  • •“Not verified” is not proof of authenticity. Absence of a fal signature doesn't mean an image is real or human-made.
  • •Verification-only. This page confirms signing status and generation time. It does not reveal who generated the content, the prompt used, or any account or request details.

fal provides this free public verification tool to support transparency in AI-generated media, consistent with emerging AI content-provenance requirements, and with our commitment to responsible deployment of generative AI.
