What counts as a “direct generative media app”?
An AI image generator, video creation tool, voice/music app, avatar maker, or design product where generation is the core experience.
A product with a first-class generative feature, e.g. an editor that creates images, or an app that generates short videos for users.
A company that only uses some AI internally, with no generative media in the product itself. (Still curious? Reach out.)

Good questions
Do I need funding or revenue to qualify?
No. The Builder Grant Program is specifically for bootstrapped and indie builders. Pre-revenue side projects are welcome. What matters is that your product is a direct generative media app.
How fast is approval?
Fast. Approvals here are designed to be lightweight and mostly async, with no sales call. For genuine generative media apps with no abuse signals, we aim to say yes quickly.
How do credits grow over time?
As your monthly spend on fal crosses each threshold ($50/mo, then $100/mo), reach out to us and we'll bump you to the next pack and add the difference. You don't need to re-apply, and it's based on your fal usage specifically.
Can I start at a higher pack?
Yes, that's the default. Your starting pack is based on your existing usage on fal when you apply, so if you're already using fal at a higher level, you start at the matching pack.
What if I'm bigger than this?
If you have real traction or you're VC-backed, the fal Startup Program offers $1,000–$5,000 in credits plus partner perks.
