Install the fal plugin in ChatGPT, or connect the fal MCP server with developer mode.

Setup

Install the plugin

Open the fal plugin listing and select Install plugin. Your workspace can require administrator approval.

Connect fal

Select Connect for the fal app if prompted. Complete browser sign-in and authorize the connection.

Check tools

In a new chat, type @fal. Ask ChatGPT to find an image-generation model without running it.

If you need a custom MCP app instead of the plugin, use ChatGPT developer mode. Your workspace must permit custom apps. Full MCP actions require Business or Enterprise/Edu; Pro custom MCP apps support read-only tools.Open Settings → Apps → Create. Enter https://mcp.fal.ai/mcp-relay as the server URL, select OAuth, and complete browser sign-in. Scan the tools. A read-only custom app cannot run generations.
